I get a User Licence limit! alert when trying to login?

This is because the maximum number of sessions are open for the user and password you are trying to login with. If you signed up for a SunPosition Single user license then there can only be one user logged into SunPosition at any one time, if you have logged in on another computer or with another browser then the SunPosition application knows you are already logged in from somewhere else and so you must logout on the other computer, or wait until the session times out 'Session Time' before you can login using another browser or computer.

Session Time - How long does a session last?

Top --^

Sessions by default are set to 30 minutes, this means that after a user logs in they have 30 minutes to use or read the page they are on before the session times out and are automatically logged out. Navigating to another SunPosition page or using any of the options on the same page before the 20 minute session runs out will renew the session. For example: The user logs in on the welcome page, a session will be set giving the user 20 minutes to use that page, the user reads the page which lets say takes 4 minutes leaving 16 minutes session time. The user now presses the 'SunPosition Calculator' option from the menu and is taken to that page, in doing this their session will have been reset to 20 minutes again. Session Time will also be reset if a user 'while logged in' navigates to another page on the SunPosition site, or selects any of the other options on the calculator page that reloads the page, such as selecting a location menu item, pressing the 'SunPosition Calculation' button or selecting one of the 'Select from ... ' or 'Input location....' options on that page.

How to get data and add a new location?

There are various ways to get a locations coords apart from the obvious such as a GPS system, using Google Earth is one of the ways.

Open up Google Earth and select the application preferences, select 3D view and set the 'Show Lat/Long' option to 'Decimal degrees', this will give a more accurate reading on the location coords. Now close the preferences window.

Using Google Earth go to the location you would like to add to SunPosition and zoom in for more accuracy, set your cursor over the location and take note of the decimal coords reading at the bottom of the Google window... now login to your SunPosition account on the SunPosition web site and select 'Account admin' at the top right of the SunPosition page...

1# Select 'Edit - User location favourites.'.
2# Select 'Add a new personal location to your favourites list.'.
3# Select the Continent and Country the location is located in.
4# Enter the Town/City or location name.
5# Select 'Decimal' from the 'Coordinate format' and enter the decimal coords taken from Google Earth.
6# Select or enter any UTC and DST setting for the location and press 'Add'.

Now your new location is saved to your favourites list, you can make a calculation by selecting the entry from the 'Favourites' list on the main calculation page.

We suggest you request the location is made global so that other users get access to it, to do this simply press the 'Personal' text link for the location in your favourites list and press 'Submit'. It may take up to 48 hours for this location to be made global.

Can I save the SunPosition results page as a pdf?

Top --^

Macintosh OSX users can save the calculated results as a pdf file by selecting the 'Data Printout' button then selecting to print the printer formatted page, at the lower left of the print window there will be a 'PDF' menu, selecting 'Save as PDF' will save the results as a pdf file which can be sent by e-mail or printed out at a later date. Pressing the 'Print' button in this window will print the results but not save them as a pdf file.
